Frequently asked questions

What if I am shy in front of the camera?

I am too! Seriously… That is why I stay BEHIND the camera. I am empathetic to the feelings that come from being in front of the camera. I have an assortment of silly, fun ideas and prompts to get us laughing, moving, and grooving. This is what leads to that authentic emotion, and in turn, the most cherished photos!

What happens after I book?

After you book your session, I will touch base with you and introduce myself. I may have some clarification questions, or suggestions for your session. Then I will send a contract and collect a retainer to hold the date and time. We can also get on a consult call to chat about your session in more detail.

How many pictures will we receive?

For 90-minute portrait sessions, you are guaranteed a minimum number of 45 edited images

Should I bring anything to our session?

I always love “props”! They add depth, story, and a personal touch. I always recommend bringing your cap, gown, stole, chords, etc. If you are a tech major, you can bring props like a computer. If you are a doctor/nurse, you can bring stethoscope. If you are a dental hygienist, you can bring floss. And so on! Bug spray and sunscreen is never a bad idea.

What’s the best time to have a session?

I am partial to “golden hour” light when it is applicable. It is the time of day where the sun is about 2 hours from setting. It is called golden hour because the light is warm and soft, making for very flattering images!

What if my littles are grumpy & not cooperating?

There are benefits to longer sessions, we can ebb and flow on their timeline. Perhaps they’re a bit grumpy - how can we encourage play, joy, and fun? And if they are still grumpy, we can shorten the session or embrace capturing their different expressions and emotions.

What happens if it rains?

We can embrace it or reschedule. If there is the chance for inclement weather, we can communicate at least 6-hours in advance to decide whether we reschedule or stick to the plan.

Do you have location ideas?

Yes! I also do quite a bit of research before-hand if I have not yet been to a location you suggest. I always consider lighting, accessibility, and the aesthetics of a location. I definitely suggest doing photos at your school's campus where applicable.

What if I don’t want my photos public?

Not a problem at all! It is required that you state this before signing the contract - as the contract will have you sign that the images can be used publicly. Client photo galleries used publicly for marketing are typically priced lower than private galleries.
